Hey, parents!
We are very excited to be offering youth brackets for this tournament and as always, we are thankful for all the parents who support their children as they learn and grow in their Jiu Jitsu journey. Competition is an incredible experience for children of all ages as it teaches courage, respect and puts all their knowledge and training to the test! However, it is incredibly important that we encourage our youth students to have fun! Here we will discuss a few tips on how to ensure the day goes as smoothly as possible for your child.
- If you are unfamiliar with the scoring system for the DHGS tournament, please feel free to reach out to a volunteer or event organizer to clarify your child's placing in their bracket. We kindly ask that you remain kind and calm towards staff — we're here to help.
- Please arrive early for check in and ensure your child has eaten and had plenty of water.
- Please ensure your child has clipped their nails, removed all jewelry and has longer hair tied back.
- Ensure you have appropriate snacks for your child as the tournament will be a long day.
- This tournament is created to give your child an opportunity to test their skills against other youth cross western Canada, please keep it civil while watching them compete, no put downs.
- We encourage you to support and cheer on your child, however please refrain from coaching from the sidelines unless you are their coach.
- Emotions can run high in these tournaments, please make sure that you are there for them through both the wins and loses. If your child cannot complete due to stress or anxiety, please find a volunteer or organizer immediately to remove them from the bracket.
- Please remain in the designated area for your child's bracket to ensure you don't miss their match.
- We will not tolerate foul language or poor sportsmanship from parents and spectators, please remember that this is sport event created to be a fun and rewarding day for the competitors.
